Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations CourtyardIthaca, New YorkThe Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations recently completed construction on a new courtyard in 2006 following the complete renovation of the Extension Buildings in 2005. Building renovations included classrooms, a library and a conference center. Pam Shadley led the design, detailing and construction efforts while a Principal with CRJA. The new courtyard has walkways that connect both through the space and to buildings, outdoor gathering areas, and the necessary parking, service access and post office access in this small space. Grading plans accomplished the necessary accessible routes while adapting to the falling topography and creating garden spaces. Wall detailing captured materials and finishes of adjacent buildings, and planting complemented the street and campus plant materials. More Images (click on image to see larger view)
