Brattle House

Cambridge, Massachusetts

Brattle HouseLocated in the heart of Harvard Square, the Brattle House is a historic building that now houses the Cambridge Center for Adult Education. The building needed interior improvements and an exterior ramp to provide universal accessibility, plus an improved courtyard space that preserved an existing and beloved dogwood tree. As subconsultant to the architect, Pam Shadley was Principal-in-Charge for the site work, including design, construction documentation, construction, and the extensive public reviews and approvals with the Harvard Square Historic District. The site plan includes a sloped walkway and ramp integrated into a corner of the site, new steps, pavers, planting and site furnishings. The project was completed in 2001 while Pam Shadley was with CRJA.
