South Broadway Park

Shadley Associates is working with Malden Redevelopment Authority, the City Councilor, Malden Catholic High School and the Mystic Valley Charter School to develop conceptual design alternatives and final construction documents for the complete rehabilitation of South Broadway Park.  This park currently has a Babe Ruth Baseball field, a totlot, a roller hockey court and tennis courts that are in disrepair.  The project will create a new, expanded high school baseball field of synthetic turf with high school lacrosse and soccer in the outfield, four tennis courts suitable for league tournaments, a basketball area, a new totlot, a bocce court, and passive outdoor recreation space. 

The project also includes the complete restructuring of vehicular circulation and the creation of a new roundabout, parking and connections with the adjacent School, Maplewood Park and Mystic Valley Shopping Plaza.  The City is talking with the neighborhood shopping center about shared parking and revised circulation for the benefit of all stakeholders.  The project will also mitigate the current stormwater problems in the adjacent residential neighborhood.

The project will go through design evaluations and cost estimating, followed by bid documents, permitting and approvals and then construction, currently scheduled for 2011. The SketchUp graphics shown are by Shadley Associates.
