Station Landing

Mystic Center

Station Landing is a 20-acre mixed use waterfront development. Originally the site of a failed shopping mall, this project began as a site and landscape planning project and has continued through the first two phases of construction. Phase One included reclamation of the existing site pavements and foundations, then proceeded with construction of the first entry road cul-de-sac loop, the first 60,000 square foot building (an office building), and the Mystic River Park. Phase Two included the first half of the parking garage, which houses 900 spaces, and a 1000' long horizontal elevator which moves people from the garage to the train station just north of the project.

Work performed by JP Shadley for the project included graphics and presentations for the public approvals, contributions to the environmental impact statement, and design, construction documents, and construction administration for all site and landscape components. Built parts of the project included a 3-1/2 acre waterfront park with a boat launch and marina access. Wetland replication, public walks, a bicycle path, site lighting, benches, native waterfront plantings, and interpretive markers were also part of the park scope. The landscape at the building included lush plantings and a large brick and granite paved plaza with a fountain.

Mr. Shadley worked on this project while at the Halvorson Company and CRJA. Future phases of the project are being done by the new owner, and they are planned to include dense residential housing, small scale retail development, a hotel, more office space, and the second phase of the garage. The entire site is planned to be landscaped in a manner consistent with the first phases.
