Reading Memorial High School

Reading, Massachusetts

Pam Shadley lead the site work for the renovation and expansion of the Reading Memorial High School in Reading, MA, while a Principal at CRJA. Site work required programming, client/Building Committee coordination, site design, the development of bid documents, permitting and approvals, and the construction phase.

Because the site slopes twenty vertical feet across the building, site design included terraced parking for 550 cars, and several entry/exit locations across the site. The work included a new bus dropoff, pedestrian and vehicular circulation to the field house, a pre-school with playground and the superintendent's office. Synthetic turf is used at both the primary football/soccer field and at a new multi-use practice field. The running track is being resurfaced, and new pedestrian routes and plazas provide access for school and community site use. Wetland impacts were avoided and work was coordinated with the local Conservation Commission. Service for the school, field house and concession stand is integrated into the site plan.
