Woodland Elementary School

Weston, Massachusetts

The Woodland School in Weston, MA is a 50-year old building by a notable Boston architect, and is beloved by the community. The expansion and renovation of the school honored its woodland setting and maintained forest edges, rock outcroppings, and native vegetation. Nestled between wetlands, riverfront area, an aquifer protection district, conservation land and floodplain, the site was improved to add a 40 car parking area, separate bus and parent drop offs, and a playground.

The project required extensive collaboration with the School Building Committee to coordinate the work , construction phasing and the site design, and extensive permitting with the town of Weston. While she was a Principal at CRJA and working with the project architects, Pam Shadley led the site design, bid document production and the construction phase.
