To successfully develop a compound within Nantucket’s Core Historic District, the limited available space must be creatively used. The site master plan by Shadley Associates provided private terraces for three separate homes yet also preserved a shared expanse of open lawn. The outdoor endless pool performs beyond its spatial limitations and is surrounded by flowers, quality bluestone pavement, and a picket fence. The multi-generational family of owners agreed they wanted a quintessential Nantucket garden, so there are brick pavement patterns, flower boxes, clipped privet hedges, and a flourish of hydrangeas, roses, and many other perennials. Shadley Associates provided full services including Historic District Commission approvals for the entire property.
