Greenfield Community College

Shadley Associates provided site planning and landscape architectural services with a large consultant team on the renovation of Greenfield Community College’s central building complex. The site design created a major new open space where previously, due to extreme topography, the campus had none. The project also created a strong pedestrian promenade that organizes movement and creates a universally accessible path to the Student Center. A new plaza and several seating areas offer a wide range of outdoor dining and gathering opportunities. The project won a Commonwealth of Massachusetts Architectural Access Board and Boston Society of Architects’ Honor Award for Accessible Design in Public Architecture.
