Howard, Ward 7 Councilor Neal Anderson, Malden Redevelopment Authority Executive Director Stephen Wishoski, Ferryway School Principal Tom DeVito, architect Pam Shadley, Ferryway School students Emily Fitzgerald and Jaryd Giorlando, contractor Jim Mercurio, and architect Jason Bobowski.
The city has invested $125,000 in the renovation of the heavily used park. New sod, fencing, and irrigation have been installed and a series of improvements have been made to the drainage system at the park. The city used federal Community Development Block Grant funds for the renovation project, which was administered by the Malden Redevelopment Authority.

The park is used by the adjacent Ferryway School during the day, and during off hours it is used for girls softball.

“In an ongoing effort to improve the quality of life for the residents of Malden, we continue to make investments in the city’s passive and active recreational areas,” Mayor Richard C. Howard said.

“This is a tremendous neighborhood asset,” said Ward 7 Councilor Neal Anderson, who was on hand for the dedication ceremonies.

Shadley Associates of Lexington provided the architectural design services for the project. The contractor, selected through a public bidding process, was Mercurio Brothers Landscaping Inc. of Revere.
